WASHINGTON – The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations—Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates—arrive in Washington next week to discuss a host of challenges facing their region. The easy discussions in the summit will likely involve US arms sales to the increasingly ambitious GCC militaries. But more challenging negotiations loom over the proper approach to resisting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the fractured state that persists in Libya, and the Saudi military intervention in Yemen, says Control Risks Managing Director Michael Moran in a new podcast.
