Fantasy Games, Real Laws: 10 Factors States Must Consider When Regulating The Fantasy Sports Market
In recent weeks, at least eight states have proposed new bills to regulate the fantasy sports marketplace: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Texas and Washington. The recent rush to regulate "fantasy sports" is triggered by new investments in the industry by entities such as Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, Comcast, and purportedly even Walt Disney. Nevertheless, this rush to regulate fantasy sports has left many states ignoring critical underlying issues.
